ASSOCIATES OF APPLIED SCIENCE IN
SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY

Performing Surgery

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to define the role of the Surgical Technologist and other surgical team members. They will understand the principle of aseptic technique, define the processes of antisepsis, disinfection and sterilization. Identify needs of the surgical patient (physical and psychosocial). Apply the principles of surgical conscience and understand basic knowledge of preoperative care of the surgical patient. Understand the principles of anesthesia. Gain a working knowledge of sutures, needles and staples. 

THE STUDENT MUST COMPLETE:

  • 76 Credit Hours

  • Successfully complete each course with a minimum of 70% (GPA 2.0)

  • Achieve 70% on lab participation

  • 315 hours of clinical experience in a clinic or hospital (This rotation is will be completed the last semester of enrollment)

COST OF THE PROGRAM: $15,500.00

Tuition: $14,500.00

Books & Supplies: $900.00

Application Fee: $100.00

Cost of Books & Supplies as well as the Application Fee are due upon enrollment.  

Payment plans are available for the full tuition amount. 

CLASS SCHEDULES: 

Day Class Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays

8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Length of the Program: 18 months (75 weeks)

Night Class Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesday & Thursdays

5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Length of the Program: 29 months (126 weeks)

REQUIREMENTS TO ENROLL:

  • The applicant must first take and pass the Accuplacer examination

  • Provide copy of their current government issued picture ID

  • Provide copy of their valid social security card

  • Provide official high school transcripts

  • ​Provide official college transcripts (if applicable)

  • Applicants will also submit an official essay with their application and attend an interview prior to acceptance into the program
