in Surgical Technology 

Program Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to define the role of the Surgical Technologist and other surgical team members. Understand the principle of aseptic technique. Define the processes of antisepsis, disinfection, and sterilization. Identify needs of the surgical Patient (physical, psychosocial, spiritual). Apply the principles of surgical conscience and understand basic knowledge of perioperative care of the surgical patient. Understand the principles of anesthesia. Gain a working knowledge of sutures, needles, and staples.

 

The student must complete
• Successfully complete each course with at least a 70% (GPA 2.0)
• Achieve 100% in lab participation.
• 315 hours of clinical experience in a clinic or hospital. This will allow the students to apply the knowledge obtained in a surgical setting under the supervision of a surgical technologist or physician.

Cost of Books/Supplies and Application Fee are due upon enrollment. Payment plans available for the tuition amount. 

 

Day Class Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays

8:00am - 4:00pm for 18 months (75 Weeks)

 

Night Class Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays

5:00pm - 9:00pm for 29 months (126 Weeks)  

This length includes one semester or 315 hours of externship and semester breaks

  • Passing the Accuplacer Entrance Examination provided at NGNA
